Dining at the Docks on Lake Guntersville
My wife and I stumbled on this place after a day of visiting waterfalls in North Alabama. We arrived before sunset, enjoyed a great meal listening to live music from the deck, then sat on the dock watching the sunset over Lake Guntersville.

Their Shrimp and Grits made the Alabama Tourism Department list of “100 Dishes to Eat in Alabama before you die”. I didn’t have them on this visit but a friend did and confirmed it is a bucket list item. According to their site, Docks has been “featured in Rand McNally’s Editor’s Picks of places to eat in the South.”
There is indoor and outdoor seating with occasional outdoor live music. Though we sat inside we had a good view of the lake. The decor provides the “freshwater life” vibes that make these restaurants so special.
As you can see from the pictures our appetizer and meals were wonderful. Best wings I’ve had at a seafood restaurant. The freshness of the ingredients and skills of Chef Mark Hall combined to deliver savory grilled seafood and satisfying side dishes.

Enhance Your Trip
There is plenty of parking. You can even dock your boat if that’s the way you came. It is a popular local restaurant so expect more crowds closer to sunset, though we were able to get a table easily an hour or so before sunset.
After your meal enjoy a walk around the property, stroll out on the dock, and perhaps enjoy a sunset if your timing is right.
